 Geschreven door: Jesse Warmerdam Vandaag heeft Pangu - het team achter de jailbreak van iOS 7.1 - een nieuwe jailbreak uitgebracht voor iOS 8.0 en iOS 8.1. De jailbreak is echter nog niet echt operationeel; cydia ontbreekt bijvoorbeeld nog. De versie van Pangu is nu te downloaden vanaf Pangu's website, en is momenteel alleen beschikbaar voor Windows. Let wel: wanneer je Pangu installeert, zal cydia nog niet aanwezig zijn.
Dat cydia niet aanwezig is, duidt erop dat deze versie van de jailbreak vooral bedoeld is voor ontwikkelaars, om hun tweaks bij te werken naar iOS 8. Waarschijnlijk zal bij een update in de nabije toekomst ook cydia aanwezig zijn. Goed nieuws voor de jailbreak-community is dat Saurik vanavond een update voor iOS 8 voor Cydia gebracht heeft, waardoor je Cydia nu handmatig kunt installeren op je gejailbreakt apparaat op iOS 8. Cydia installeren op jailbreak iOS 8 Je kunt Cydia op je iPhone installeren door het bestand van Saurik's website te downloaden. Saurik laat weten: "I’ve given a new version of Cydia Installer in the form of a standard jailbreak bootstrap for inclusion in a new version of their jailbreak. I’ve also pushed the .deb of the iOS 8 version of Cydia to apt.saurik.com for manual download, but not yet to my repository. A lot of thanks goes out to limneos, who tested the new build for me, as I was at an airport (and now am frantically typing this message while they figure out how to retract the jetbridge from the plane I’m on that is about to take off)."
